About Tecumseh, OK - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Located in Pottawatomie County, Tecumseh is an Oklahoma city with about 6,500 residents. It was named for a famous Shawnee chief, and it served as the county seat until 1930.This community was originally settled in 1891, and the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway began serving the surrounding agricultural region about ten years later. Today, Tecumseh offers residents small town hospitality with big city conveniences located near by – the city is 30 miles east of Norman and 40 miles southeast of Oklahoma City.
Although Tecumseh is primarily a residential community, there are a few interesting places to check out while visiting. Local merchants offer a variety of great gifts for purchase, including Yearwood Design Works, Make it Yours, Vintage Depot, and Hartoon’s Jewelers. There are several unique restaurants here, such as Johnnie’s Italian Restaurante and Juanita’s Mexican Grill. Outdoor recreation is available at Tecumseh City Park and WM Charles Martin Park.
Tecumseh weather varies with the season. Summers here are humid and hot, and after the tornado season peaks in June, it is relatively dry. On average, high temperatures reach 90 degrees Fahrenheit 70 days per year, and there are several days in which thermostat readings of 100 degrees or higher are registered. These conditions can be dangerous without the right precautions at home, so it is recommended that all Tecumseh invest in a reliable central air conditioning system along with regular professional maintenance.
Conditions here are dramatically different during the winter. The season tends to be brief with dry conditions and cool temperatures. While the normal mean temperature may reach close to 40 degrees during January, each season, there are many days where temperatures hover around the freezing point. A heat pump or gas or electric furnace will help residents to stay warm and comfortable no matter how cold it gets outdoors.
